How Sweating Is Good For Our Skin

How Sweating Is Good For Our Skin

Submitted by: Gurjeet Phungura

Haven t you wondered why after a great workout your skin feels smoother? Why you have less acne and fewer breakouts?

We have all heard the health benefits of exercising and how a regular exercise routine can benefit us. What about exercising and how it affects your skin? Daily exercise can be extremely beneficial to your overall skin health and it can also help clear your acne!

Many people tend to forget that our skin is the largest organ of our body and thus dismiss that it, too, needs to be taken care of properly with good habits such as exercise. Among the benefits of exercising for our skin s sake is increased circulation of blood and oxgyen delivering nutrients to skin cells, as well as creating the best environment for producing collagen (the substance that helps the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles).

When you sweat, toxins get released through the skin from pores, which open when they are heated. Sweating cleanses the pores from dirt, dead skin, and excess oil all of which create unfavourable flare-ups and ugly looking skin.

One of the greatest benefits of exercise to the skin is on acne-prone skin. Exercise controls the body s production of male testosterone-related hormones, which in turn are related to stress and acne. Since increased stress is one factor that contributes to our acne breakouts, when you exercise your stress levels lower and your body needs less of the testosterone hormones that are part of acne flare-up. Therefore, exercise control stress, and so it helps control acne.

The more you sweat the better, so anything that makes you sweat and that you enjoy doing is what you should stick to in order to stay motivated to keep exercising. Don t want to be indoors at a gym? Outdoor activities are a great way to get some fresh air and sunshine, which also contribute to good health. Walking, hiking, jogging, cycling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating are just a few of the activities that you can enjoy in the great outdoors. On the inside, there is swimming, and let s not forget dancing!

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you are working out:

1. Take a shower after exercising. Do not sit around in wet clothes. Taking a shower after your workout will wash away the sweat from your body, which by the end of your workout is loaded with bacteria and excess toxins that have escaped through your pores.

2. Drink plenty of water after your workout. Water is essential for ridding your body of toxins and replacing all the water lost from sweating. There is a correlation between drinking water and reducing acne breakouts, so drink, drink, drink!

3. If you go for a swim, it is important to rinse yourself after swimming to clean off the chlorine on your body, which can irritate you later.

4. If you like the outdoors, always wear sunscreen, even in the winter. Prolonged exposure to the sun can actually clog pores and of course, cause unsightly sun damage.

Finally, remember to have fun! Working out and exercising does not need to be dull. Get into a team sport or a jogging club. Find an activity that you love to do and do it regularly!

How sweating worksby Melinda Walton

Sweating is our own personal, internal air conditioner. Learn how it works!

The first thing to start sweating, is our brain. When our muscles create extra heat-energy, the brain reacts by sending a signal to the sweat glands to start working to keep the body cool so that it does not over-heat.

Our skin, is made up of different layers, at the bottom there is the Subcutaneous Tissue, which is where nerves and large blood vessels are held in fat and connective tissue. On top of the subcutaneous layer there is the sensitive tissue that houses nerve endings, subaceuos glands, bloody and lymph vessels, and sweat glands. This layer is called Dermis.

Next comes the Epidermis, which is a protective, nonvascular layer. Then there is the new skin layer, which is just underneath the Stratum Corneum, which is what we see, in some areas it is thicker than in others, for example our foot skin is harder then our arm skin.

So, our sweat glands start in the dermis, and continue up and into pores through the other layers. Sweat glands are wrapped in nerves, which is how our brain sends the signal to our sweat glands to start working.

There are many different ways to start sweating, including sweat-inducing gadgets, sauna s, steam baths, or working out.

Note: while sweating, be sure to drink lots of water so that you do not become dehydrated.

Wikinews interviews Democratic candidate for the Texas 6th congressional district special election Daryl Eddings, Sr’s campaign manager

Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Wikinews extended invitations by e-mail on March 23 to multiple candidates running in the Texas’ 6th congressional district special election of May 1 to fill a vacancy left upon the death of Republican congressman Ron Wright. Of them, the office of Democrat Daryl Eddings, Sr. agreed to answer some questions by phone March 30 about their campaigns and policies. The following is the interview with Ms Chatham on behalf of Mr Eddings, Sr.

Eddings is a federal law enforcement officer and senior non-commissioned officer in the US military. His experience as operations officer of an aviation unit in the California National Guard includes working in Los Angeles to control riots sparked by the O. J. Simpson murder case and the police handling of Rodney King, working with drug interdiction teams in Panama and Central America and fighting in the Middle East. He is the founder of Operation Battle Buddy, which has under his leadership kept in touch with over 20 thousand veterans and their families. He was born in California, but moved to Midlothian, Texas. He endeavours to bring “good government, not no government”. Campaign manager Faith Chatham spoke to Wikinews on matters ranging from healthcare to housing.

An Inside Elections poll published on March 18 shows Republican candidate Susan Wright, the widow of Ron Wright, is ahead by 21% followed by Democrat Jana Sanchez with 17% and Republican Jake Ellzey with 8% with a 4.6% margin of error among 450 likely voters. The district is considered “lean Republican” by Inside Elections and voted 51% in favour of Donald Trump in last year’s US presidential election. This is down from 54% for Trump in 2016’s presidential election, the same poll stated.

Glasgow cannabis enthusiasts celebrate ‘green’ on city green

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

Coinciding with Easter Sunday, Glasgow Cannabis Social Club’s annual 420 event was held on Glasgow Green, under sunny blue skies, and overlooking the river Clyde. Despite the city’s council attempting to revoke permission for the gathering at the last minute, police were happy for it to go-ahead with approximately a dozen officers attending in high-visibility vests.

The Daily Record reported five arrests were made for minor offences, likely smoking and possession of small quantities of cannabis. Taking a less-sensational — and more accurate — line of reporting, the Monday edition of Glasgow’s Evening News stated five were referred to the Procurator Fiscal who is responsible for deciding if charges should be brought.

Official figures provided by the police were that 150 attended. With people coming and going, Wikinews reporters estimated upwards of 200 attended, compared to nearly 700 who had signed up for the event on Facebook. Hemp goods were advertised and on sale at the event, and some attendees were seen drinking cannabis-themed energy drinks.

“I was searched and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act (which is a lot of bollocks)” one attendee noted online, adding “not fair to happen on a brilliant day like it was, other than that I had a great day!” A second said they were openly smoking and ignored by police, who “were only really focusing on people who looked particularly young”.

Cannabis seeds were openly and legally sold at the event and a hydroponics supplier brought a motortrike towing an advertising trailer. Actually growing cannabis is, however, illegal in the UK.

With the event openly advocating the legalisation of cannabis, speakers put their arguments for this to a receptive crowd. Retired police officer James Duffy, of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, spoke of the failed United States alcohol prohibition policy; stressing such policies needlessly bring people into contact with criminal elements. Highlighting other countries where legalisation has been implemented, he pointed out such led to lower crime, and lower drug use overall.

One speaker, who produced a bottle of cannabis oil he had received through the post, asserted this cured his prostate cancer. Others highlighted the current use of Sativex by the National Health Service, with a cost in-excess of £150 for a single bottle of GW Pharmaceuticals patented spray — as-compared to the oil shown to the crowd, with a manufacturing cost of approximately £10.

Similar ‘420’ pro-cannabis events were held globally.

Make Improvements With Cosmetic Dentistry In Downers Grove

Make Improvements With Cosmetic Dentistry In Downers Grove

byadmin

Improving the way you look and feel is easier than you think. Start by improving the look of the teeth or gums for the next time someone gets close to your mouth. To start looking and feeling better, evaluate your options for cosmetic dentistry in Downers Grove. Know the reasons why so many people have invested their money and time in these procedures.

Improve the Way You Look

Once you get cosmetic dentistry, you will look better in the mouth area. You may get a procedure to bleach the teeth, straighten the teeth, bleach the gums, or replace missing teeth. With any procedure, you are guaranteed dramatic results with every smile. Feel less shy when going out, and feel better about shopping and dressing up.

Also, cosmetic surgery helps you practice better hygiene. First, spend more time maintaining the health of your teeth. Then, focus more on the importance of bathing properly and being clean. After many women get cosmetic surgery, they start visiting the spa more or spending more time in the shower.

Cosmetic dentistry is there to improve the whole body and not just the teeth. Anyone who wants to focus on the body as a whole is a good candidate for cosmetic procedures.

Improve the Way You Dress

Once you improve the teeth, improve the contents of your closet. Few people will want to wear bad clothes with new, good-looking teeth. Many people get cosmetic surgery and then feel a strong urge to improve their wardrobes. They feel the need to clear out their old life and create a new life right away.

Improve the Way You Feel

With a new and improved look, you are guaranteed to improve your attitude. You feel better about appearing in common situations, such as going to weddings or showing up to parties. You feel less inclined to be shy and blend into the background.

Cosmetic dentistry is necessary to make all of these improvements to your life. Nowadays, it is easy to locate the right cosmetic dentist where you live.

Choose the Right Type of Procedure

First, choose the part of the mouth that you want to improve the most. It could be the teeth or the gums where you want to remove imperfections. Know that cosmetic surgery is designed to improve the look, but general surgery is designed to improve the function.

As people get older, they dream of finding eternal youth and improving health. They consider getting cosmetic surgery but worry about the costs or risks. Although not all dental procedures are cheap, they are less invasive than other procedures like liposuction or rhinoplasty. Since the dentist is only working on your teeth and mouth area, the results are safe yet dramatic and effective.

California releases search warrant for Wells Fargo bank on identity theft

Saturday, October 22, 2016

The California Department of Justice on Wednesday released the warrant and affidavit of a criminal investigation of the Wells Fargo bank. The State of California served the warrant on October 5 to search the San Francisco headquarters of Wells Fargo for felonious activities related to identity theft.

The warrant said property to be seized at the bank’s San Francisco headquarters was related to the unauthorized creation of accounts by Wells Fargo employees including the names of individuals for the accounts; account information and fees; the names of employees and their managers who created accounts without the consent of the Wells Fargo customers in question; and all communications including emails referencing the unauthorised accounts.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris’s criminal probe is part of an increasing list of officials nationwide questioning the business practices of Wells Fargo such as California State Treasurer John Chiang who announced a one-year suspension of State investment with the bank on September 28; Illinois State Treasurer Mike Frerichs followed suit with a year-long ban on October 3; and Democratic United States Senators Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who wrote to the U.S. Security Exchanges Commission (SEC) suggesting investigation on September 29.

“Camp Casey” moves to safer land, as Mother’s protest continues

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

In Crawford, Texas, anti-war protesters led by American Cindy Sheehan, mother of a fallen soldier, have found a new place to demonstrate. “A kind gentleman from down the road, closer to the Bush ranch, has offered us the use of his property,” said Sheehan to the reporters, as the camp prepared a move to private land.

The property owner, U.S. Army veteran Fred Mattlage, said, “I just think people should have a right to protest without being harassed, and I’m against the war. I don’t think it’s a war we need to be in.”

Sheehan continued to tell the reporters, “He offered it because he heard about the shots fired at us the other day and he didn’t think that was right. He happens to be the third cousin of the person that fired the shots and so he came down and he said he supports us 100 percent.”

The “shots fired” were those of nearby resident Larry Mattlage, whose land borders the protesters at their current location. After complaining about the proximity of the protesters, he fired a shotgun twice into the air Sunday – in order to prepare for duck hunting season, he said. Mattlage says at no time was he ever threatening the protesters with his shots.

Not all Americans agree with Mrs. Sheehan’s position. On Monday, a man was arrested and charged with vandalism of Camp Casey’s memorial for troops lost in Iraq. Around 10pm the previous night, authorities say the accused used his pickup truck to run over hundreds of small wooden crosses bearing names of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq.

In comments to the press, Bush offered sympathy to Sheehan, “I sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan. She feels strongly about her — about her position. And she has every right in the world to say what she believes.”, he said. However, he has still declined to meet her. “I think it’s important for me to be thoughtful and sensitive to those who have got something to say.” Bush told reporters, “But, I think it’s also important for me to go on with my life, to keep a balanced life.”

Others have commented that Sheehan is being used by those with their own agendas, “What started out as a grieving mom that we all sympathized with has now turned into … an orchestrated far-left campaign,” commented Greg Mueller, a conservative public-relations executive.

A former FBI special agent, Rowley, and Becky Lourey, whose son was killed in Iraq, will leave for Texas on Thursday and camp at the site for a few days.

Rowley said, “It puts a human face on this issue; many people, if they don’t have a personal connection to the troops, it’s so easy for this to become a discussion that lacks seriousness and urgency. I think it’s good to show that there are real people that are being affected.”

“Our children are dying and I think it’s time to go support Cindy and see if Bush will come out and we can say, ‘President Bush, what is the mission exactly?’,” Becky Lourey added. “Truth has been shifting all around and I think we need to rejoin the world community and not occupy another nation.” Lourey said.

Sheehan wants the withdrawal of all troops from Iraq. President Bush claims that leaving Iraq now wouldn’t be helpful for Iraqis or Americans, but only for terrorists.

Bolivia’s new president-elect brands Bush ‘the only terrorist’

Friday, December 30, 2005

Bolivia’s new president-elect Evo Morales has branded George W. Bush a “terrorist”, and has referred to Condoleezza Rice as “Mrs Condolences” in an exclusive interview for Qatar’s News Channel Al-Jazeera.

Before departing for an official visit to Cuba, Morales denounced what he calls a “dirty war” undertaken by Bush against him and said that “Bush was the only terrorist because he is the only one who militarily interferes in the domestic affairs of other countries. That’s state terrorism, but those who claim their rights are not terrorists“, he reiterated in what has been regarded as an escalation of his anti-Washington rhetoric.

At the same time, he said in Chapare during the celebration of his victory, that the plan “zero coca” carried out by the US to eradicate coca in Bolivia is terminated. “We are winning the green battle, coca is defeating the American dollar” he said.

Venezuela‘s Hugo Chavez is another head of state who has previously labeled George W. Bush a “terrorist”.

Have You Created A Life Of Vitality? Take My Quiz To Find Out. Blog Category: Eating Well, Healthy Eating}

Have You Created A Life Of Vitality? Take My Quiz To Find Out. Blog Category: Eating Well, Healthy Eating}

Submitted by: Lynda Enright

What does vitality mean to you?

The Websters definition of vitality is: a) capacity to live and develop, b) physical or mental vigor especially when highly developed, c) power of enduring.

To me, vitality means living a life where you are:

thriving

feeling good every day healthy and strong

participating fully in your life

engaged with family, friends and colleagues

not solely in the absence of poor health but in a state of great health

We know from research of populations around the world who live long and thrive that there are many factors to creating a life of vitality. Food is certainly one component, but in addition a sense of purpose, community, physical activity and spirituality are important components as well.

Are you living a life of vitality? Take my quiz to find out.

1. Do you choose foods that are fresh as often as possible?

2. Do you choose foods that are grown locally when available?

3. Do you choose foods that are in season where you live?

4. Do you prepare foods using plant oils such as coconut, olive, avocado, walnut or grapeseed?

5. Do you sweeten your foods with fruit juices or butters, pure maple syrup or honey?

6. Do you get salt from fish, sea vegetables or sea salt?

7. Do you purchase free range meats?

8. Do you eat naturally fermented and cultured foods?

9. Do you cook with a variety of herbs and spices?

10. Do you spend time with people in your community?

11. Do you have a sense of purpose in your life?

12. Do you spend time with both the young and the old?

13. Do you move your body daily?

14. Do you spend time in spiritual or restorative practice?

If you answered YES to 7 or more questions you are making choices to live a life of vitality. If you answered YES to fewer than 7 questions you have greater opportunities to thrive!

Food is not simply energy, it is information.

Populations who live a life of vitality make food choices that provide different information to their body than the Standard American Diet today.

Food that is fresh, local and in season is richer and more diverse in nutrients.

Food that is cooked from scratch and preserved using natural methods such as fermentation has higher nutrient value and helps to nourish your gut more than foods that are highly processed to allow for shelf stability.

Fats that are consumed from plants nourish your body to protect your heart and against disease.

Salts that come from the sea are rich in a variety of minerals.

Herbs and spices can add so much more to your diet than just flavor. They may have antimicrobial, antiviral or antibiotic properties.

A lifestyle of vitality

In addition to food, there are components of a life of vitality we can learn from long living populations that you can incorporate into your days as well. Research repeatedly shows that having social connection improves health and increases longevity. You may spend your days getting done what needs to get done without thinking about your real purpose. A sense of purpose may protect your heart and add years to your life.

Remember the days when everyone got a day off? When there was for so many an actual day of rest? Stores were closed, time was spent with family. Today our 24/7/365 lifestyle is taking a toll.

Some research has looked at daily movement versus sitting and then exercising. It seems as though building more daily movement into your life may have greater benefit than going to the gym after a day of being sedentary. We know from populations who thrive exercise is not the norm, but rather movement happens every day throughout the day.

What choices can you make?

My hope for each of you is not that you just get through your days or years. But you do it doing what you love, being with people who are important to you, nourishing your body so that you feel well, have energy and a clear head. We can learn from people around the world who not only live long but live well. You may not have the choice to move to a remote island where life moves more slowly and fresh food is available all year round. But you can make choices each day to shift where you can to choose foods that nourish rather than those highly processed, to choose movement instead of a chair, to choose friends and family rather than solitude.

Each choice you make will create your own vitality. Take a step. Your good health is worth it.

Burst pipe probed in Utah refinery blast as questions asked over safety

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Federal investigators with the Chemical Safety Board (CSB) of the United States have declared that a recent explosion that damaged homes alongside a Woods Cross, Utah refinery was triggered when a pipe burst. The revelation comes as locals begin questioning the decision to build houses near the facility.

The explosion at the Silver Eagle refinery on Wednesday morning was the second next year, and blasted a fireball into the neighbourhood. Ten houses suffered damage including cracked foundations, roofs lifted off, doors and windows blown out and debris hurled into rooms. One resident, Linda Wood, has been told to leave her house, which lies condemned after it was knocked clear of its foundations and damaged structurally.

Two local emergency dispatch centers were clogged up as calls came through to the 911 emergency number. Firefighters arrived quickly and tackled the resulting blaze at the refinery after establishing that there were no injuries. The 1950s refinery was not evacuated and is expected to continue operating despite the damage. It employs 80 people.

Silver Eagle’s own firefighting crews were already in control when they were joined by the emergency services, and together they put the flames out in around thirty minutes. Woods Cross mayor Kent Perry said that over the last six months there have been a lot of improvements in local firefighting and praised the reaction of emergency services. Later, 120 residents were visited by structural engineers to assess damage. There were also power outages in the area, with two other refineries amongst those affected.

Silver Eagle had also sent employees on a firefighting course following another explosion in January. In that accident, a large cloud of flammable vapour developed over a tank of naptha before igniting, causing a flash fire that injured several employees. The firm has said they will pay for all the damages caused by the latest incident, and Perry advised affected people to keep track of expenses incurred.

As well as the CSB, Utah’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Silver Eagle themselves are investigating the accident. The CSB released preliminary findings yesterday that indicated a burst pipe was to blame, although the reasons for its failure are unknown.

A pipe ten inches in diameter burst along a horizontal section near a point where it changed direction from vertical. The pipe normally carried hydrogen and diesel and was linked to a reactor that took waxes out of diesel fuel, but due to maintenance by Silver Eagle the pipe was only transporting pressurised hydrogen. When it failed at 9:15 630 pounds of hydrogen spilled out and were ignited by a nearby furnace. The resulting 800 degrees Fahrenheit fireball leapt 100 feet into the air and sent a string of pressure waves to buffet the housing, as the pipe pointed east towards the homes.

The CSB’s Donald Holmstrom commented that “The unit was immediately engulfed in flames… We’re extremely fortunate that no one got hurt. Five workers were in this process unit just a few minutes before.” The revelations come as local residents expressed concern about the fact that houses were built so close to the refinery in the first place.

It has been discovered that there were no houses near the refinery until six years ago, when an application was denied after an engineer commissioned by the council reported that the risks were too high. However, the developer convinced officials to change their minds with a report by a company he had hired himself. The CSB is due to look into these studies as well as one by the refinery. An opinion piece by the Salt Lake Tribune also criticised the company’s safety record, with the refinery also experiencing explosions in 2005 and 2007. However, the refinery had recently passed a safety inspection when the accident occurred. The CSB will examine whether the refinery was properly inspecting the pipe.
