Brazil’s Minas state stops sales of Toyota Corolla

Friday, April 23, 2010

Minas, one of the largest states of Brazil, has stopped the sale of the Toyota Corolla over safety concerns.

The move was made after nine Corolla customers reported that their cars automatically accelerated. The state public prosecutor’s office said in an online statement on Tuesday that the problem is blamed on accelerator pedals sticking underneath floor mats. Local government said the issue was “putting in danger the lives of occupants”.

According to the prosecutor’s office, sales of Corollas may resume when Toyota alters the floormats in its current models. Toyota has recalled over eight million vehicles worldwide due to acceleration problems.

The Best Selling Medical Supplies

The Best Selling Medical Supplies

The best-selling medical supplies are usually those that are used most frequently and which are employed in a variety of situations rather than in specialized settings or particular health conditions. Best selling medical supplies are often times disposable and therefore are bought more often. Basic care medical supplies are often times found in highly visible areas. Most medical facilities, even those providing only emergency services, need to have a basic array of medical supplies. These supplies make up the overall needs of a typically medical situation. If one were to perform a search online to find the best-selling medical supplies, frequently listed on wholesale medical supplies distributors’ web pages, the list would include some of the below mentioned items. If one were to ask a doctor or a health practitioner they would learn more about the most common types of medical supplies. IV and general purpose catheters. These are flexible tubes that are used as pipelines for infusions or blood transfusions, or, in case of general purpose catheters, to remove waste products from the digestive, urinary system and wounds. General purpose catheters are used when the natural pathway of waste products, such as urine or feces, is not accessible or is bypassed due to surgical reasons.Syringes and needles. These are basic medical supplies used for injecting drugs or vaccines. They come in a variety of sizes and needle lengths according to the specific purpose. Injections are the most rapid way of delivering drugs into the bloodstream for a quick and effective action, so it makes perfect sense that these items are best-selling medical supplies.Bandages, wound filler materials, adhesive strips and medical tape. Wounds and minor traumas are one of the most frequent medical occurrences. In order to prevent contamination or infection, a wound is cleaned, disinfected and bandaged. Aside from general medical settings, sports and military medical facilities are especially notorious consumers of these medical supplies.Antiseptics. These are essential medical supplies used to disinfect wounds, injection sites and surgical incision areas. The most commonly used antiseptics include alcohol, alcohol-iodine solutions, also known as tincture of iodine, boric acid, hydrogen peroxide solution and providone-iodine, also known as Beta dine. The former is currently considered one of the safest and most effective antiseptics because of its broad anti-bacterial effects. The items listed above make up a small representation of the number of medical supplies found in common health facilities. In a first aid kit one could find a variety of common first aid items such as badges, gauze, antiseptics, disposable stitches and over the counter paid medications. All of these products can be bought at local stores and online. These products can be grouped together with a bag or satchel allowing for easier access. Because the best selling medical supplies are fundamental to the care of wounds they can be found in nearly every corner of the earth and will continue to be staple products for medical supply manufacturers and distributors. New method of displaying time patented

Saturday, October 14, 2006

An American inventor has patented a pair of new time formats with a footprint less than 50% of that of conventional four-digit time. The more unusual of the two new formats, called “TWELV”, dispenses with numerals altogether. In place of clock hands or digits, the new clock uses color to convey the hour and a moon image to convey the minute, which moon slowly grows throughout the course of an hour from a narrow crescent to a full-fledged circle.

The second and more approachable of the new formats retains numerical digits to indicate the minute but uses colors to convey the hour.

Early critics question whether the aesthetic benefits of the moon-clock will be sufficient to encourage users to learn the color-based time-telling system. However, the size advantages of the new system may make it particularly suitable for mobile applications, particularly cell phones, wearable computers, and head-mounted displays.

Three Task Performed During Professional Air Conditioning Service In Pittsburg Ks

Three Task Performed During Professional Air Conditioning Service In Pittsburg Ks

byAlma Abell

Having a working air conditioner is of the utmost importance during the hottest days of the year. It is not just a matter of comfort, but a matter of health and even survival. One way to ensure an air conditioner is operating at peak capacity is to have professional air conditioning service performed on the unit. Three tasks performed during professional Air Conditioning Service in Pittsburg KS are an inspection of the wiring, an examination of the condenser coil, and a check of the refrigerant level.

Wiring Inspection

One task performed during a professional air conditioning service is an inspection of the air conditioning unit’s wiring. The wires, contacts, and connections present in an air conditioner must be in good shape for the unit to work properly. If they are not in good shape, a compressor or motor failure can occur. An air conditioner technician will closely inspect the wiring to look for stripped wires, loose connections, and worn contacts and repair them before a major problem occurs.

Condenser Coil Examination

An examination of the condenser coil is another task performed during professional air conditioning service. It is normal for the condenser coil to collect dust and debris. This can reduce the efficiency of the unit. The condenser coil should be cleaned regularly to prevent this and other problems from occurring. An air conditioner technician can examine the condenser coil and clean it if necessary.

Refrigerant Level Check

A third task performed during professional air conditioning service is a check of the refrigerant level. An air conditioner must have the correct amount of refrigerant to perform at its best. Too much or too little refrigerant can cause the unit to work harder than normal or even shut down entirely. It is important to have the level checked by an air conditioner technician who can drain or top of the refrigerant charge as needed.

CDL Electric can provide professional Air Conditioning Service in Pittsburg KS. The qualified technicians can provide an inspection of the wiring, an examination of the condenser coil, and a check of the refrigerant level. Additional services offered include the installation of new air conditioning units, regular maintenance plans, and emergency calls. Visit Cdl-electric.com today for more information.

Cypriot plane with 121 on board crashes in Greece

Sunday, August 14, 2005

A Helios airliner (Boeing 737, flight HCY 522) with 115 passengers and 6 crew onboard has crashed into a mountain at 09:04 UTC (12:04 p.m. EEST) near Grammatiko, 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of Athens, while approaching the capital’s airport. All on board perished. The plane was travelling from Larnaca, in the southeast of Cyprus (Greek:Kypros, ??????) and scheduled to arrive in Prague after a stop in Athens.

Immediately after take-off, the pilots reported a problem with the air conditioning system of the aircraft and requested to stay at a low altitude. A few minutes later, the pilots alerted the station that the problem had been fixed and requested permission to ascend. This information however has been denied by the Director of Helios Airways. As the plane approached Athens, all communication abruptly ceased, and the plane never issued a mayday distress signal. Two Greek F-16 military aircraft were assigned to observe the plane. The pilots of the F-16s noted that one airliner pilot appeared to be unconscious and the other was not in the cockpit.

CBC reported the following:

On Wednesday [August 17, 2005], state-run and private media, quoting anonymous defense ministry officials, said the two fighter pilots saw someone in the cockpit take control of the plane, which was flying in a gradually descending holding pattern apparently on autopilot. That person, probably a man who experts say must have had flight training, then banked the plane away from Athens, lowering it to 2,000 feet and then climbing back up to 7,000 feet before the plane apparently ran out of fuel and crashed.

The F-16s accompanied the airliner until it crashed.

The Greek F-16 pilots saw at least one of the aircraft’s pilots may have become unconscious before the crash, causing control of the plane to be lost. The emergency oxygen masks were also reported to have dropped.

There had been speculation that an electrical fire or some other cause could have flooded the cabin with carbon monoxide or another gas that would render the passengers unconscious. However, the chief coroner of Athens, Greece, said that tests showed none of the passengers or crew had carbon monoxide in their blood. It was also speculated that the air-supply system of the aircraft may have failed, causing a loss of air pressure within the cockpit. This malfunction can cause a steep drop in air temperature. On December 16, 2004 the same aircraft made an emergency landing after failure of the ventilation system at 35,000 feet and 3 passengers were hospitalized. However, an airline spokesman insisted that the plane was airworthy when it took off.

Tests showed that at least 26 people on the flight were still alive when it crashed.

After a cabin decompression occurred onboard a Learjet carrying golf pro Payne Stewart in 1999, all the travelers lost consciousness and the plane eventually crashed with no survivors.

Helios Airlines was unable to supply a complete passenger list, having only first initials and surnames available for investigators.

The official passenger list released by Cyprus Police, as reported by CNA, indicates that there were 22 young persons onboard aged 4-16. Most of the passengers were Cypriot, a small number were Greek and one of the pilots was German. There were 4 Armenian passengers who lived in Cyprus.

The complete list, in Greek, has been published by the Cyprus News Agency.

After the crash, a fire started around the airliner. It was extinguished by firefighters after 2 hours. The fire burned most of the bodies that are now being collected by special firefighter units and transferred to the city of Shisto, near Athens. Meanwhile, the two F-16 pilots were transferred to Ministry of Defense to give their report.

The flight data recorder has been recovered. The cockpit voice recorder was found the following morning in bad condition. The two devices will be sent to Paris for examination.

Nektarios-Sotirios Voutas [1][2] reported that a passenger (his cousin) sent a text message that read: “The pilot has turned blue [in the face]. [F]arewell we’re freezing”. He was arrested the following day as it appeared to be a hoax [3].

Helios has informed the relatives of the victims; however, the company has been met with criticism for failing to release the passenger list quickly.

Helios Airways released a statement on their website today, stating, “Our thoughts are with the families of those on board at this difficult time.”

An emergency telephone number in Nicosia, Cyprus can be contacted at +357/70003737, 22 – 446146.

The Cypriot government has declared three days of national mourning and ordered flags to be lowered on half-mast.

Upon allegations brought by the Communications and Works Minister and the chief of police, warrants were issued by the attorney general to search Helios Airways offices [4]

Super Tuesday 2012: ‘Joe the Plumber’ wins GOP congressional primary

Friday, March 9, 2012

On Super Tuesday, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, known more commonly as ‘Joe the Plumber’, won the U.S. Republican Party primary for Ohio’s 9th congressional district, which represents Toledo. He defeated real estate agent Steve Kraus, 51 percent to 48 percent, and will now face incumbent Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has held the seat since 1983.

Wurzelbacher received notice during the 2008 presidential election, when he asked a question about taxes to future president Barack Obama. Obama, who at the time was the Democratic Party presidential nominee, famously responded, “when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” After this, Republican presidential nominee John McCain used Wurzelbacher as a representation of the average American worker, and attacked Obama’s response as socialist.

I’m not working for the Republican Party or Republicans, I’m working for the American people, and that includes all of us.

Following the exchange, students from the University of Massachusetts tried to draft Wurzelbacher to run against Kaptur in the 2010 congressional race, calling on him to “Plunge the crap out of Washington.” He initially expressed interest, but at that time did not run. In 2011, though, he announced his candidacy for 2012.

In the Republican primary, Wurzelbacher out-raised his opponent $60,000 to $10,000 and benefited from the endorsement of former 2012 Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain. Wurzelbacher said of partisanship, “Democrat, Republican…it’s something that the media uses to try to divide us as Americans…I’m not working for the Republican Party or Republicans, I’m working for the American people, and that includes all of us.”

In the Democratic primary, Kaptur defeated Representative Dennis Kucinich, who challenged her after his district was redrawn. Kaptur argues that Wurzelbacher is “going to have his own issues dealing with the electorate as he moves forward…I think the nature of the District is quite different than his value set.”

Wurzelbacher concedes that he lives in a largely Democratic and pro-Union community, but says the people are “all really good friends of mine…we agree on a lot of things, and ultimately what it comes down to [is] we want jobs, we want security, we want stability.”

Do You Need Background Checks

Do You Need Background Checks

Submitted by: Andrewlo Stevens

Otherwise, you can also choose an additional way to generate passive income, like the one I share with you bellow.

2. Sell photographs and videos.

You can do this mostly over the internet. You may live in a big city like Chicago, in a middle of the woods or near a beach like South Beach. It doesn t matter much where you live. Just use your imagination.

Find your target market prior to you start. Who are you going to sell the images or videos to? Focus on some thing specific. Are you going to take pictures about landscapes and buildings? Are you going to sell stock photography? Do you would like to gather visual info for travel agencies? You might discover soon how profitable this business can be.

For instance, let s say which you live near a tourism region. You may take your camera and take some pictures or record a movie with information about probably the most attractive touristic attractions on that region. Then you are able to sell the files to travel agencies over the web.

You are able to take a few thousand photographs and sell them on Web image libraries. These businesses post samples of your photographs on your websites and once their visitors buy 1 of your pictures they pay you by sending you a check.

You can get huge exposure this way. Furthermore, you can even have your own website and advertise it through various mediums to boost your sales. This is a good example of how you can get passive income from photography or video taping if you like this company. This is very general info. The money is within the details which I will tell you later.

3. Build a couple of great websites and sell advertising space.

If you can create web sites rich in content and attract numerous visitors per day, some advertisers will want to place ads on your website. What impresses much more the advertisers is web sites rich in targeted specialized content and high quantities of real daily visitors.

You can get content for your web sites from article banks and free e-books libraries. You are able to create a couple of graphics too or pay somebody a couple of dollars to create the graphics for you, then provide them for totally free to your visitors. You see, the more interesting your website will be the much more visitors you will get.

What makes your web pages interesting is their content. What you offer your visitors as soon as they get there. How useful is your website for them. This may require you to use some imagination. Why? Simply because as with anything else, there’s a lot of competition.

Where you won t discover competition? You won t find competition in Creativity Land. You know where that is? It’s within your head. The much more creative you get, the less competition you’ll find. Individuals will attempt to copy your stuff anyway, but after you make a couple of millions here and there why worry about the copycats?

The issue is that it’s kind of tough to create something new, specially when more people don t really know what creativity means. For instance, creating a website isn’t creativity.

25 killed and 33 injured as explosion rips through Chinese karaoke bar

Thursday, July 5, 2007

25 people were killed today and 33 were injured when a large explosion ripped through a karaoke bar in Tianshifu, Liaoning Province, China. The state-run Xinhua news agency says the cause of the disaster is under investigation. Four people are reported to be in a serious condition.

Originally, Xinhua reported only five fatalities, but as rescue workers continued to move away debris, the full extent of the death toll was discovered. Xinhua has also reported that several employees at the bar, as well as the wife of the owner, were being questioned. According to a philly.com article authored by The Associated Press, Xinhua failed to state whether this was as witnesses or as suspects in any potential criminal activity, but the Shanghai Daily said that Xinhua had reported the people had been detained as suspects. The owner himself, Mr. Qu, was killed in the blast.

Investigators say they are currently unsure if the blast was purely accidental, or if foul play was involved, as all efforts were initially focused on attempting to locate survivors. The two-storey building, which also housed a bathhouse, was completely leveled by the blast. In addition, several cars were buried under the debris and windows in nearby buildings were shattered by the pressure wave. A power cut in the area was also caused by the blast due to damage to the local electricity network.

77-year-old local resident Chen Xiaohong, who lives 50 metres from ground zero, described the explosion: “I was watching my grandson finishing his lessons. Suddenly, we heard a big bang, then the door burst open from effects of a powerful shock wave and the lights went out… We were lucky not to have been hurt.” Meng Xianling, who runs a seafood stall located down a narrow lane opposite the site of the accident building, commented that “I was afraid the parlor’s boiler would explode. Mercifully, it didn’t.”

China has been the location of many disasters in both public and private places, such as fires and explosions. Earlier this year, an unsafe arrangement with a two-ton steel ladle resulted in the Qinghe Special Steel Corporation disaster, in which molten steel was accidentally poured into a room full of workers, killing 32. The majority of China’s accidents stem from a combination of lax safety regulations and negligence, and accidents continue regularly despite promises by the government to prevent them.
